Custom "resto-mod" 76 Yamaha XS 650. This bike has been completely rebuilt.

My digital camera and computer speakers do not do the sound justice but you get the idea.

  • Great Bike!! You have done almost exactly what I would like to do to my 77. Would you mind sharing with me where you purchased some of the new items. Rear shocks (size), lights all around and seat. Real interested in what you did wiring wise and did you upgrade any of the electronics (charging system). I love that you kept the big tank. Really looks great! Fantastic bike!

  • @drkuhn6 I don't really have an easy answer for you. All of the XS650 specific parts came from the two major 650 parts suppliers in the US. The rest I found on the net or fabricated. I didn't really get anything on ebay. I tried to keep the wiring close stock. I upgraded the regulator from mechanical to a solid state & updated the rectifier to a modern setup. It's still running on points though. Good Luck on your 77 build.

  • Could I get some pics of how you did the rear fender

  • @Norvell07 The rear fender was originally the front fender.I welded on some struts for support on back. I cut the original fender support and welded on the bottom side of the swing arm so the original bolt holes in the fender could be used for mounting the other holes were filled.
