I know this sounds a little strange for me to say but, I wonder why there was a blue background in this hand shadow skit when on the other hand shadow skits, there was always a white background.

The performer's name is Rau. He appeared at the Montreal "Just For Laughs" comedy festival in the early 1990s, and his performance is included in an episode of the syndicated "Just For Laughs" TV series (not the "Gags" one; the real one that shows the best of the festival). Someone has posted it on YouTube. Just search for "Just for Laughs shadow", and you'll find it.

this used to scare me when i was a little kid.

yup, this is obviously edited. i wish an original can be found and posted here. i can still do the rabbit and bird and i want to see how he did the others like the horse and dog. he created the dog quite differently if i remember correctly.

The last bit may remind me a bit of Sammy Davis Jr.
I loved these! I would stay up nights and make these shadow puppets (or try to) on my wall with the little bit of light in my room when my mom left the door half open! Fun times!

Usually he made shadows of different animals, and we'd hear a kid's voice announcing which animal it was.
