The Empyrean is the tenth solo album by John Frusciante, scheduled to be released worldwide on January 20, 2009 through Record Collection. Frusciante does not plan on a following tour, as he instead wants to focus on writing and recording.
Frusciante asserts that the record "was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008," and is a concept album that tells "a single story both musically and lyrically."[1] The Empyrean contains a version of Tim Buckley's, "Song To The Siren", from his 1970 album Starsailor. The record also features an array of collaborators and guest musicians including Frusciante's band mate Flea, and friends Josh Klinghoffer and Johnny Marr, among others. The album leaked onto the internet on January 13th, 2009.

  • @ParanoidTravellers Don't compare these two songs, man! Why people always think it's all about competition instead of a great sign of admiration that Frusciante did this in the same line of Maggot Brain's? ",

  • There aren't lyrics because the song doesn't need.

  • @MikeyNL1038

    He He is so expressive

  • @hitpuppy04 he said in an interview it's kinda like an ode to maggot brain, he's not trying to rip it off just showing his respect for an amazing song.

  • i lolled, before the beginning + lyrics xDDD

  • can't beat the solo on maggot brain though!!! that's on a next level. this is good though. but probably lacks the feeling that funkadelic has.

  • @Skeeterhaxxorz it is definetly heavily influenced by maggot brain but not a rip off. john is too smart to think he could get away with that
