A little Teesside girl who consistently astonished doctors with her incredible will to live finally lost her brave struggle. Brogen ORourke was given just six months to live after being starved of oxygen at birth left her severely disabled. Instead her devoted mum and dad Lisa and Fintan got to cherish five and a half wonderful years and watch their courageous daughter grow into a proper little girl.
Their determination to beat the odds and get their baby the best health care possible saw the couple leave their Hartlepool home, first for South Africa and then to Ireland. The family had been back on Teesside for less than a year when Brogen died, peacefully in James Cook Hospital on December 2nd 2007, after developing a chest infection. After so many battles and so many times preparing themselves for the worst her death still came as a heartwrenching shock to Fintan and Lisa. He father is an internet pop star who launched an appeal to help his baby daughter and other brain-damaged children after baby Brogen was born on Mother's Day.
Now her doting parents are setting up Brogen's Appeal.

"I'll hold you in heaven someday,
When my trials on earth pass away;
The angels have rocked you, the Father watches over you,
I know you're waiting for me;
I never could hold you or tell you "Goodbye",
But I'll hold you in heaven someday". (c) 1998 Jo Ann Taylor
