As a stand alone film, its was pretty good i enjoyed it BUT considering it was to be about a prequel to the orginals, i felt very let down, it doesnt tell u how they REALLY got together, just another twist, other timeline version & isnt that the very reason why Enterprise flopped? take out the the middle seasons & Enterprise wasnt that part, explaining how they met the andorians etc but the whole war with a species that doesnt exist....... personally i was looking forward to the romulan war..

A bit of lens flare was a nice thing, like the reflections off the consoles on the actors faces for example, but the others with the blocking the whole screen...wtf?

@1wibble2 Actually, I did like DS9's long story arcs. Just didn't like what those long story arcs were about.
Honestly, DS9 did somethings very well, it's just unfortunate that those good things are outweighed by the things that DS9 did poorly.

@JohnnyC133 Interesting how we all have our different favourite Star Trek series :) My favourite was actually DS9, I love lengthy stories that span many episodes. DS9 had a story that spanned the entire length of the show through multiple series.

@TentacleXrapistXpope DS9 was terrible. It completely ruined Star Trek by destroying the exploration, the idealism, the naive hope for the future by dragging down the Federation. Section 31? There's a reason they shot Roddenberry into space after he died: he would have comeback and gone zombie on Ronald Moore and Ira Steven Behr for they did to the franchise.
If we can't come up with anything new, perhaps its best to end Star Trek rather than destroy it with bad teen drama movies.

@JohnnyC133 But nothing has been working has it? The only series that has totally worked was TOS! DS9 was the darkest of all the franchise cause it delved into the cultures of the various aliens instead of brushing over it. I liked the 6th movie, but I agree with Leonard Nimoy, its could have been an amazing opportunity to develop the klingons as a whole. Missed opportunity there that DS9 capitalised fully. There are no GOOD ideas since DS9¬! people have tried and failed horribly.

@TentacleXrapistXpope But we already have the adventures of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy! Three TV seasons and six movies, what more do we need? Star Trek needs something new, a completely new premise, not a rehash of the good ol' days with a new paint job and terrible dialogue/plot.
Besides, movie number 6 was better in its entirety and purpose than all of DS9 put together. Both tried to show a darker side of the Federation, but only movie 6 succeeded without ruining everything.

@JohnnyC133 they could have done so much more with 5 + 6! though to be honest I've always seen K/S but I get where you're coming from. the familiarity from the 3 of them is from years of knowing each other, trusting each other and literally dying for each other. Though you have to admit given enough time TOS kirk spock and mccoy would burn down yosemite for themselves! the newbies are STILL developing! the newbies will camp out just as awesome friends after many DIFFERENT and unique escapades!
i like the part where there's lens flare

@2LucasKane3 If you're a reall Trekkie, then you must realise that the film is set in an ALTERNATIVE REALITY! They're renewing the original series for people of my age.
