Here is my recumbent tricycle. It cost me $900 from Sun bicycles in California (it was shipped to a local bicycle shop who assembled it for me).

It is incredibly comfortable - no ass or crotch pain whatsoever - and really fun to ride. Has a little trouble with steep hills, as I explain. Going downhill on it is amazing, and probably the closest thing I'll ever get to the experience of piloting an airplane.

I would recommend this to anybody who wants to get some exercise outside but don't want the aches and pains of an upright bicycle. There is not too much maintenance other than keeping things lubed and changing the occasional flat tire - same as with an upright. It's also very safe, since you are sitting upright and have good visibility (to see car drivers and for them to see you).

  • wikkid cool trike! oh ya! The trike looks very sturdy and well designed! But yes, I can see how going up a steep slope could make it flip. Still it must be really fun to ride. Oh ya, potholes are the bane of cars and bikes alike, them and curbs... I am happy that both the trike and yourself were unhurt. xoxo

  • you were talking about getting a bike. you might like this. though it is a bit expensive, I think it's worth it.

  • ...put a rack up front and carry th' backpack up there to equalise th' trike a bit...

  • I have one and everything he says is true. Something he didn't say is the rear derailer cage sits about an inch above the ground and it runs into stuff at times. I've busted 3 derailers in a year. But still, I like mine. I wouldn't design a trike like this myself, but it was the least expensive trike available and it will carry 400 pounds total.

  • doesn't sun have warranty on their frame? Talk to your bike shop... I have experienced the same front lifting problem as well, not a problem yet, but have to be careful. I usually just get a running start and then don't pedal up the hill if it's small enough. if it's a big hill then I have to either choose a granny gear or walk it..

    nice vid..

  • Thanks for your review!

  • he is puffed

  • well, that's not good going up hills!

  • um bom video, esta trike é um sonho, this kind of trike is a dream

  • that bike is a ez3usx with under seat steering i know i have one like it.i put a phoenix motor on it because i heard it was illegal to pedal azz.<-- a funny.i have about 3000 miles on my bike and am so happy with it.i wouldnt trade it for any other bike out there except maybe a green speed tandem 3 wheel bike, but i think they run about 10 grand.if your interested in how i put the motor and batterys on my bike ill make another video of my bike.have fun and dont get squished!!!

  • I still miss my Sun USX....Hurricane Katrina took it. Great machine for leisurely cruising or longish journeys and yes, with a trailer and proper lighting, you can really tour with one of these babies. I upgraded to the USX from my Sun EZ-1 Super Cruzer which I also miss a lot. Interesting video and I hope you get the chance to fly someday!

  • I just went to look at a picture, and it appears that on the cx and ax both (with handlebars) that the seat is somewhat forward of the back axle, so maybe I wouldn't have as great a tipping issue.

Do you think this one was designed this way for racing or long tours?

BTW, I forgot to mention, I like that fish "hood ornament". LOL Life is more fun with humor.
