my cousin had a linksys usb adapter and it got way to hot and disconnected all the time. i will always reccomend an internal card because of this. another thing is that computers sometimes have a limited number of usb ports. while this is true for pci slots, how often do you need to put something in a pci slot? and in the case of laptops, most of them either have a wireless card installed, or an empty mini-pci slot.

I think this idiot totally missed the point. I understand that 99.99% of the laptop nowadays have wifi built in, so the question was most likely referring to a scenario where he have a desktop machine (without a wifi card) and he's in some place like a dorm where there's only wifi offered. PCI is a wayyy better choice in this case as it connects directly to the circuitry of the motherboard, also a USB dongle is much less stable to run extensively, at least for the wireless functions.

pci cards are faster !!!!!!!!! i have tried both the usb always fal out and los signal but the pci keps the signal for years
