The second step of the tennis kick serve progressions is to add the follow through to the motion we've been working on. Take the kick serve mechanics from the previous video and then tack on the follow through. Everything should be practiced at a slow and deliberate speed so you can really work the technique.

  • Hey! so i have a question im a lefty like you and im wondering what bebels your hand needs to be on the racket for the serve?

  • continental grip -- bevel 2

  • OH MY GOD!!! For the first time I see someone else rather than an ATP player who actually hits the REAL kick serve (ball kicks in a different direction after bounce) Congratulations, man!!! Your video lessons improved my game a lot more than my coach did. Are you a coach yourself? ;)

    Best wishes,

    Nick (from Bulgaria)

  • Hi Nick -- thanks! I'm an internet coach =)

  • Will your videos are extremelly good and helps me immensely. Can you do something simillar showing the steps to master a semi western grip?

  • The fundamental technique is similar regardless of grip, however your swing path will be affected by the grip you use.

  • you are one of the the two best tennis coaches on the internet;I hope you are rich cos you should be!

  • hello Mr. Hamilton, I love your videos, this kick serve demonstration has helped me tremendously. I want to ask you how you are tossing the ball constantly at the same spot (?) I've seen your other videos on serves, which had a brief demonstration regarding tossing (ie no spin on the ball, etc). I'm wondering if there is more to it? I've been trying to emulate the way you toss, but it is not working too well. Thank you

  • man, your videos are really good and helpful. keep it up!!! :)

  • @stewpaintballman He's just demonstrating a kick serve, likely just a warmup kicker for people to learn off of. And what do you mean that his swing is too long? ATP pros have even longer, more extensive swings! Just take a look at Federer or Sampras.

  • @FYB2007 Dude I want to see you play a real match

  • ive got numerous comments on this video

1st.- awful technique, swing is way too long should be much more compact and racket should be closer inline with your head.

2nd.- i would anally wreck that serve. that high forehand is just what i love to get.

    i <3 lefty kick serves:)

  • What is the string pattern on that racquet? Your getting decent spin without even trying...

  • In your video you instruct to follow through in a "U" but i notice you finish accross your body?

  • @tbriz9 No problem, just trying to help!

  • Hey There, So I have a question for you. I have a topspin/kickserve how to improve my serve speed because my serve is quite slow.. Can You please help me out?And tell me how to improve my serve speed.

    Thanks

    Jon
