ANCHOR:
A flurry of recent aviation mishaps have plagued the 89 year-old Australian airline. Passenger confidence is being thrown into question. Here's more on the story.

STORY:
Qantas Airways urged passenger confidence, as regulators launched a safety investigation of the Australian airline after three planes were forced to make emergency landings.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is reviewing Qantas operations after a Manila-bound flight with 200 passengers was forced to turn back to Sydney after the pilot discovered a hydraulic fuel leak.

A Qantas flight from Hong Kong to Melbourne eight days earlier saw part of the undercarriage blow off, forcing an unscheduled landing in Manila.

Another domestic flight returned home after a wheel bay door failed to close.

Qantas said in a statement that regulators had no evidence to suggest safety standards had fallen.

The Australian carrier has 225 aircraft and a near 90-year reputation as one of the world's safest airlines without a single fatal accident.
