I'm a season pass holder & really like what Ecke Ranch has done to preserve this local institution. HOWEVER, I have to correct the statement that the fields have only been open to the public for 10 years. That's not true. Prior to Ecke's ownership ($10 entry fee) the fields WERE open for FREE to the public who would just pull off the road to stroll around, watercolor artists came to paint, and flower tenders would pick you a flower right of the ground! Don't rewrite history please.
This is the most colorful of Carlsbad's attractions. Can't wait for the next bloom!

I have been there many times(: I was born there, I love Carlsbad/San Diego! But I live somewhere else now, I miss it though :(
