College Football Saturday Utah Utes @ Michigan Wolverines (-3) (3:30PM ET) (ABC)

The Rich Rodriguez era begins at Michigan as they host the Utah Utes with Michigan only a 3-point favorite. Yes Utah returns a senior quarterback and plenty of starters on offense but they did lose 3 road games last year to Oregon St, UNLV and BYU and gave up 32 points to Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl. Other than BYU the Mountain West Conference was terrible last year. Michigan is a program that promotes many players into the NFL and constantly competes for a Rose Bowl berth. Michigan returns 7 starters on defense that played well late last season. Heck they only gave up 14 points to Ohio St. I think the bigger question here is how will the Utah defense handle the spread offense? Navy run up and down this club in their bowl game last year. I like the fact that there has been a fierce competition at quarterback and at running back for Michigan. The competitive practices will translate to effectiveness come game time. Yea, take Michigan -3 and loose your money! How on earth could you have picked Michigan? Please do more homework. Look back at his first season at WVU. He took over a team that won a bowl and had several players back. He went 3-8! It takes time. It took time at WVU and it will take time at the UM! Didn't hear you mention any of that, do you think you should have looked at that? I did and took Utah stright up! I won!

Keep in mind that BYU has been to twice as many bowl games as Utah.

A bowl game win is great but what does it matter when you can't win your own conference?

2005 - BYU played Eastern Illinois, Utah played Utah State.

2006 - Both BYU and Utah played Utah State

2007 - BYU played Eastern Washington and Utah played Utah State.

2008 - BYU plays UNI and Utah State and Utah plays Utah State and Weber State. BYU plays Washington and UCLA and Utah plays Michigan and Oregon State.

How is Utah's schedule any tougher?
