Merry Thrashmas! Tis the season am I right? Its a huge deal for me today to be playing a Slayer classic (with a few creative liberties taken as usual) I saw these guys live at Mayhem Fest this year and felt they did a phenomenal job, in fact, seeing them live was what really got me into their band!

On this video I am requesting advice from anyone who transcribes solos by ear, how do you go about isolating really complex passages note by note? Any advice or constructive criticism is welcome!

After tallying up votes from the last video, we had a very close race between people who favored split screen and those that liked picture in picture. So looking at the song, I figured that since there is pretty much a guitar duel going on in the solo section, I would split screen it this time. I also measured the distance to the camera a bit better so both "Me's" are roughly the same size.


And speaking of Mayhem Fest, I just realized, I have songs up by a lot of the bands that played there and am still working on the rest so I guess I'll have a mini-Mayhem when I'm done!

Do you palm mute when soloing? Like when you hit the 6 5 and 4 strings at 2:39

Somewhat, It is almost like a half mute so that I can still get the notes to be choppy and well-defined while not allowing them to ring too long. Hope that helps. Horns!!
