If it's not shallow water it's not necessary to have a helmet.

yes where is the helmet
no matter how good a paddler you are you should always were a helmet because your not a good paddler when you hit your head on the bottom and die
but some nice moves

For the helmet commenter's: this video was shot in a pond that is about 10 feet deep. I can touch the bottom if I flip and extend my paddle it's full reach down. I hardly think hitting my head is an issue of notable concern. Lol. Thanks for the comments though. Happy kayaking.

flat water training is a really good way to work on cartwheeling and most other tricks. but get hold of ken whiting play boating dvd. will help heaps

A dvd helps to a point. Everything I've learned to do in a kayak has been through watching paddlers with more experience and the *free* information I've found on the internet. There is nearly limitless information out there if you're willing to search for it. However, a DVD like Ken's does do a good job at connecting techniques together.
