  • read from the bottom to the top....

  • with his own influence sharing the same culture but keeping the independence in the core of each region, this is really beautyfull and limitless.

  • the maqam is a extraordinary pallette of scales that give to the arabic musician the posibility to generate a beautyful tissue of sensations and melodies, if you add the power and mix of arabic rythms, depending of the influences of the zones of middle east you can find a rich varity (Egyptian, Sinai Bedouins, Qatar, Morrocco, Tunisian, Istanbul, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan, etc) every place,

  • But the arabic music it is constructed from the maqam, the maqam are arabic scales with quarter of notes, a kind of music that occidental musicians and artist cannot reproduce with our traditional occidental instruments,

  • Our west concept of "arabic music" born in the fact that we imitate from the arabs the arabic scales, this arabic scales are minor armonic scales and most of the minor scales have the sadness sensation.

  • I dont think its sadness, I always answer to this kind of question saying that this is beauty, like in arabic poetry every word have a meaningful and deep sense of beauty, in the music this happen to every note to have a deep connection with god and nature.
