@sexsexsexyNathan A black atheist in the black community places one in a particularly bad position. There is a lot of miseducation in the black community. It is believed that religion was responsible for getting us through slavery, civil rights, etc. Being an "atheist" is not "black" to many.

Furthermore, in many black communities there is an abundance of churches. A lot of money gets funneled to these churches. (cont)

Coming out atheist today is much easier than it was coming out gay 30 to 40 yrs ago, To me it is a cake walk.

@itsbenjamin 'two rocks colliding'? Who says that is what started anything but smaller rocks? What do you see as 'working seamlessly'? nature? Animals that don't 'work' get eaten by those that do. Systems that don't 'work' are discarded and other systems do, until all that are left are the ones that do. You don't need a magical overseer to have these things happen.. nature is pretty much self-regulating.

@JaytheOstrich Sure scientists are discovering new things in biology i.e.. how they work, I'll give you that. When I say intelligent design, I mean you and I couldn't design a human body, everything from a blade of grass, water, animals, the sun. Where did this all come from? Two rocks colliding and everything just works seamlessly together in harmony? No! A higher power made this all work together seamlessly.

@itsbenjamin Clearly you were never actually an atheist. I don't even think you're sure what the word means.

And where 'intelligent design' is concerned.. can't even fathom? We're discovering more DAILY about biology and how it works, and making even better tools to find out more. So far we haven't need help from anything 'spiritual' to see how these things work. Sounds like an argument from ignorance to me. Logical fallacy to make you feel good.

@JaytheOstrich God is so much more than an outside meaning to life. Every human being has a longing for love and to be loved, and when God doesn't show up in the fashion that we want or expect we repress our desire for God. All I know is that I want a meaningful relationship with God, I'm not going to throw God in your face, ultimately its your choice to accept Jesus as your saviour. When I look at nature, the human body; I see intelligent design that we can't even fathom. Choose to believe!!!!!
