Originally released in July 1938, during a period when "Gay '90's mellerdramas" were enjoying a nostalgic revival. In fact, Paul Terry's "Terry-Toons" occasionally featured a series of "musical mellerdramas" featuring characters similar to the ones depicted here; Fanny Zilch, Strongheart, and Oil Can Harry {in 1947, they revived the idea, featuring Mighty Mouse, Pearl Pureheart (aka "Little Nell") and Harry, which lasted several years}.
