  • Does this receiver go up to 1710, or stop at 1610?

  • @KayserIllumina This one does go to 1710. Others that look identical only go to 1610- Only way to be sure is if the seller can guarantee the year of manufacture. After 1993, they went to 1710.

  • @fortyfiveplayer I have an older style Delco UX-1 that tunes up to 1700 on AM. The date of manufacturer which is still intact on the top of the tuner says it was made in August of 1990 which is interesting. It has similar specs to the later AMAX certified version shown here but uses the Motorola MC13020 decoder IC. Not sure what the later one uses unfortunately or if Delco even redid the board for the MC13022.

  • @bratina501 I don't have a UX1 newer than 1988, but it's nice to know that they tuned that high even back in 1990. My grey face is not a UX1, but it is from a 1996 Jimmy and still has the great sound and tunes to 1710.

  • @fortyfiveplayer The fact that it goes up to 1700 is a great thing especially out here in Indiana. KCJJ 1630 from Iowa City booms in most nights and is received in full stereo on my particular tuner because of its expanded band coverage. When I got the tuner I kept thinking it would only go up to 1610 but discovering it tunes the full expanded band made the $1 I got the radio for worth the investment.

  • @fortyfiveplayer I have a 1993 Dodge van with a Chrysler AM stereo radio... however, some stations give a false indication (I'm 99% sure WROW is not in C-QUAM, for example)... are Chrysler radios that quirky?

  • Are there still AM stations out there broadcasting in AM stereo? I am not sure I guess. We have a local station here then went stereo in the 80's but all of a sudden they stopped promoting it a few years later and I think they may just be back to mono now, they never mention stereo.

  • I ran into one of these Delcos myself but the problem with mine is a squealing sound on strong AM signals but the reason might be due to my 1,300 foot wire antenna or my mockup of a Motorola 75 ohm car antenna plug. The version I got is the original UX-1 but with the cool bonus of expanded band coverage on AM which is great to have. From what I heard when my intermittent antenna worked right the sound rivals the more expensive Carvers so I will agree if you can get these working its a great deal

  • You should be like a radio announcer. Your voice sounds great lol

  • @fortyfiveplayer The MCS tuner came up on Ebay and I picked it up for 20 bucks, not bad. Will be listening in AM stereo before you know it. If I ever get the kit completed. 8^)
