I had the privilage of seeing Acapella Gold in the show your talking about and I agree that they did a fantastic job, but wasn't the venue actually in willow grove, pa.
it was a fantastic show by all the groups and there was a group from willow grove that had about 10 members who keeped switching on and of stage.
I have seen many of Drifters group, and they will since about 5 Drifters hits, and 10 songs from other groups. Its so nice to see them since their own songs. After all, they have a list of thousands to chose from.
Originally the "B" side of "Ruby Baby" in late 1955, and originally sung by the incredible Gerhardt Thrasher. Mr. Pinkney was indeed the original bass.

Great, but I think the ultimate "live" version was from the group Acapella Gold in Philly. Brian Utain sang the greatest lead vocal "ever", in mho..

Bill Pinkney was around when Carolina Beach Music got it's start. He was a great loss to music. RIP. Thanks for the Post!

Bill Pinkney was such a great and inspirational bass singer! His Booming Basso Profondo voice will always be an ultimate classic! (:
