I think the reason that it looks bad is because most rpgs are crappy at the start because you only know like 2 moves. But when you learn more moves it gets better. I'm super stoked about it!

It's best to not think of this game as just an RPG. If Pokemon is a Collection RPG, and Nostalgia is an Exploration RPG, Opoona really is a Social RPG, where you're dropping into an alien society and have to adapt. Plus kill monsters.

I agree, this isn't some children's game where you can either beat it in a day or you get bored before you do. I thought it was when I first bought it. I admit, in the beginning, it is a little boring, as the first town isn't fully accessible until later in the game, but there are some good bits in the meantime. Also, the battles (especially the bosses) require strategy and thinking, certainly not set for young kids.

I hope this helps to those who are unsure about it before they got it.

If you're wondering, there are actually Earthbound references in it. The developers seem to be big fans of the game.
