Music Philosophy #1

This is the first video of my new video podcast series that explores the world of music composition and music philosophy. In these podcasts I'll cover what music is, why it makes us feel emotion, how it relates to other arts, why man needs music, and what the rational man seeks in music.

I'll demonstrate my concepts and theoretical analysis of certain musical ideas/pieces through playing the piano. Usually this will be mostly my own work or work of composers from the 18th and 19th centuries. Sometimes, I will upload my compositions or perform short improvisations on the piano for your enjoyment.

I'll occasionally cover other topics that will be of primary interests to other composers such as methods, theory, equipment, business practice, etc. However, the main focus is the philosophy of music composition and is meant to be understood by the general public.

Music has the power to exalt and make our ideal world seem real. Do not deny yourself this great joy for such joy is the fuel of all the great achievements of man's reason.
