I love this song. The first time I came across this, in spring 2001, I was on a file sharing program and this title caught my interest. I thought I heard all of Charlie's Epic Records outputs and I assumed it was an unreleased song from his Hi Records days. Edsel had just come out with The Complete Charlie Rich on Hi Records and my local music store had yet to stock it. Could this be one of the three unreleased tracks I've heard rumors about? Nope. As soon as I heard the opening notes, I knew it was a Billy Sherrill production. Dreamy... Unfortunately, the file I downloaded came from a scratchy 45 and, even worse, the ending was clipped. But, listening to that muddy sounding file was enough for me to know it was the good stuff. I did some research and found out: 1. It was not yet available on c.d. (remember those?) format. I went to E-bay. Found it on record. No good. Didn't have a working turntable. Amazon had a listing. It was on cassette. Okay! But? No good. Turned out it was only a listing. Shucks. Oh well... The second thing I discovered was his wife Margaret Ann and his son Charlie Jr (credited as Allan Rich) were responsible for the song. I'm quite certain Margaret Ann wrote the lyrics, while Charlie Jr. wrote the music. What sold me on this song, like all of his great songs, was the way Charlie sang Margaret Ann's words. And, this time,Billy's grand production complemented them just right. Record buyers felt the same way and sent it to his highest chart position to date (it peaked at #35 in early 1972). Last note: Five years later, I finally found a clear and complete version of A Part of Your Life when Rajon Records included it in The Great Charlie Rich, a three c.d. set. I bought it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

    30年近くたってもピテカンラストライヴでケンジとヒサコが歌っていた曲が何だったのか気になり調べて…。

  • An awesome singer.....unbelievable clarity and style.

  • I was so busy writing the comment below that I failed to see that this has the great picture of Charlie and Margaret Ann. Also, I see it was written by Allen Rich and Margaret Ann. Allen now calls himself Charlie Rich Jr.

  • Great song and who better to sing it than its co-author Charlie Rich- a song he wrote with Margaret Ann his wife- she died in July. There is something a little haunting about the song and arrangement. Interesting to read below it is not on CD I have looked out for it but will make do with my album version and this posting. I work on the basis that you cannot get enough Charlie Rich into your life- he's a big part of mine- the best. Someone needs to post that piccy of Charlie and Margaret Ann.

  • ケンジとヒサコはどんな風にこの曲を歌い上げたのだろうか・・・

    本間のおっちゃんと稲村とケンジのその後は・・・

    30年近く前の話ですが、今思い出しても泣けます。
