Morning at Downtown Burbank Metrolink: Saturday, Sept 4th, 2010.

I was alerted yesterday from youtube user singwith that the Union Pacific Heritage Unit #1989 would be heading down the Antelope Valley Line on the Brooklyn Z-Train (ZBRLC). I woke up at 6:15am and headed out to the Downtown Burbank Station. When I got there at 7:45, I literally had seconds, before I heard the crossing bells ding. But what resulted was disaster. The Z-train came in on track 1, the northbound track, and it met amtrak 799 in the station, and 799 completely blocked the freight and 1989 out! But whatever, I saw some other cool stuff today.

a couple years ago, I was waited for UP1989 on ZBRLC at Glendale but the train never showed up and later I found out that ZBRLC took the palmdale cutoff.

Nice try. this is why I did not go to Downtown Burbank station on the last Sunday. See the fence between the tracks and could block the train to see. and 70% of the time, UP S/B UP freight take on the track 1. so you should stay on the platform 1.
