Actually, this is not the 1992 oscars. Disney had Beauty and the Beast in the running in 92, seeing as it came out in 1991, making it a contender for the 92 awards. Subsequently, Aladdin, which came out in 1992, would have been a contender for the 1993 awards. That is how it works.

Uh...because the Mulan songs weren't good enough? You make it sound liek teh Academy just magically started giving out acclaim to Disney songs for no reason...like going through a phase or something.

Lea Salonga's voice is so pure and clear! No wonder she got to sing this song as Jasmine in the movie (and "Reflections" in "Mulan", too!). She was also the first Asian to play Eponine in Broadway's "Les Miserable." And of course there's "Miss Saigon" -- she was the very first (and the most famous) to play the title role. Applause!
