It's a play on words. Japs LOVE plays on words.

Ookami means wolf, Okami means mistress/government and the likes and can also mean to look at something as an outsider.

Finally, Kami means god.

The man who created Okami was a huge legend of zelda fan, so the game is a lot like zelda. I personally like okami better because whats cooler than being a wolf? NOTHING!

OMG, YES!! It's got AT LEAST 30 hours of gameplay in it, and you can't argue with that kickass wolf plus the story... ah man... I miss Okami... 'specailly after my ps2 broke...

@Akunaeru i'm pretty sure it's "Ookami" and the English release is "Ōkami" so that silly Americans (such as myself) don't accidentally call it "ukami"

@Akunaeru A bit late, but it's pronounced Ōkami = Ookami. Means both wolf and great god, which Amaterasu is. Most people refer it as just Okami for ease, so I can understand why you got it wrong.

Looks like a fun game. I wish I could've got past the first twenty minutes I spent with it. When you're having trouble saving you don't want to have to scroll through twenty minutes of text.
