I feel really sad having watched the video and seen what has happened to Crossroads - the best soap on TV. The updated Crossroads just wasn't given a chance by ITV to re-establish itself.

RIP Central & The East Midlands Television Centre
-
Bullseye, Family Fortunes, Mad 4 It (CITV), and that geordie programme were all filmed at the studios.

2001 did exist but then it abruptly ceased and was meant to come back but didnt, then daft mutt Yvonn Grace took the health and "glitzed" it up which obviously killed it dead, she was also the one responsible for the "Emmerdale Family" who didnt last long in that soap.

i think so. what a strange way to end a tv show. Just when I thought the final scene of Sunset Beach was the weirdest- but being American it's probably to be expected.
-
agreed. i remember thinking that Yvon Grace must have had a death wish when i switched on to see the (second) revamp only to be faced with that god-awful and camp as tits mess of gibberish that it morphed into.

Did 2001 version reaaly exist, just a bunch of daydreaming supermarket workers wasn't it in the end?!?

ITV should buy the rights to Brookside and replace that at the teatime slot.
I live in the Yorkshire area but you are right - Central produced some great shows in its time. All the regions have gone now though and ITV is a much poorer network for it.

Archives & You Tube are all we have left of what was a great soap; Our identity for Central, As Nottingham studios are now part of Nottingham University & ATV/Central Studios in Broad St, Birmingham, are being demolished. The Nottigham Studios you could always identify in Lenton because of the Central Rainbow coloured "Cones" on the roof & were seen from most local areas. Central was way ahead of other regions with its programmes & its Idents.
