  • I feel many of you have missed the point of what Red has said. Yes, he believed strongly in God and is most likely a saint watching over us all. However, with that being said I feel like you have missed the emphasis that has been placed upon the fact that Liberty says what we have all seemingly forgotten. "which is freedom -- the right of power to live one's

own life without threats, fear or some sort of

    retaliation. "

How many walk the streets in fear every day because they are different?

  • "Believe in me as god, or suffer!" Does not every cult leader, pharoh, etc say that? Are you not sinning by Goading so pridefully how you feel SORRY for us "Non-Believers"? In that very thought you are classifying us as a group below you, which in Jesus' own words is a Sin. Pride.

I remember when I could believe in god, and not have others try and disect the bible as fact in all ways, but instead a book of morals to spread in kindness to improve life and soul for all.

  • Clearly, you don't have any constitutional scholars in your family. I do. It was both ADAMS and FRANKLIN who wrote the words (to their own churches) "a necessary wall of separation between church and state".

You can be exposed to it, which is what I said, but you CANNOT BE FORCED TO ACCEPT IT.

    THAT IS THE SEPARATION CLAUSE.

    Think man, think.

  • There is no such thing as freedom FROM religion. There is freedom OF religion. There is NO such thing as a 'separation clause' in the constitution. The constitution says, "Congress shall make no laws respecting religion". No law is needed to hang the 10 commandments in the courthouse. Making a law to ban the act (through the use of courts) is against the constitution.

I'm an atheist. Government CAN'T force me to be a christian, but Constitution doesn't protect me from exposure to christianity.

  • ran out of space....That separation was understood when the Pledge was written. The author understood that separation clause and, in keeping with that understanding, intentionally left out any religious reference at all. It was far right wing Christians that put in the words "under God", thus violating the establishment clause.

  • Actually, that is not what I was saying. What I was saying is that freedom FROM religion means that we are supposed to be free from other forcing their religious doctrine on us, either through social or legislative actions. Just as you are not allowed to force your religious beliefs on me, I may not force my religious beliefs on you.

That is what freedom FROM religion means. It is also what our founders established by the "separation clause" which prevents an establishment of religion.

  • Perhaps you misunderstand.. The constitution guarantees us the "Freedom of Religion" and NOT "Freedom from Exposure to Religion".

  • Amen. God Bless America.

  • Back in that day... he warned us of the coming sorrow... when politicians began to strip us of the rights we freely shared. Today we are living the beginning of what Red said would be a shame! Our right to religion... not freely expressed: but rather, suppressed!

Our children cannot even have a moment of private and silent prayer today.

Look at how far we have come! Look at how far we have fallen!

  • Was a happier time to live back then. When Godly people weren't threatened for simply believing in Life and liberty. God have mercy on us!

  • The message doesn't always have to have some underlying caveat to it...it's just a man doing what he can do in this country; speak his mind, and share his feelings...that is all. And some of us appreciate that.

  • Choking back the tear's...oh how much I could write...stirring of emotions...for the GRACE that GOD has shed on me...to be BLESSED to born in this, the most favored of Nations..second only to Israel, his people of covenant, this world has EVER known! Listen...to this simple explanation, and understand...what is your inheritance...so that you may not lose it! I pray.....
