Engelbert Humperdinck - Portofino 1986

Long ago I used to know where love was found,
A place in the sun
Long before this heart of mine had broken down
You were the one.

Now you're a lonely memory
My heartache will never end
All of those nights are far away
I wish I were with you again.

Portofino, I still remember the sun in your hair
Portofino, mariachi music that danced in the air
Portofino, I want you back in my arms
Every time I close my eyes I'm holding you in the dark.
In Portofino where you broke my heart.

I think of your face and still it can take my breath away after so long
And though I'll be lonely living for only yesterday I'll get along
Now you're a faded memory, my heartache will never end
This unforgotten melody keeps playing over and over again.

Portofino, I still remember the sun in your hair
Portofino, romantic music that danced in the air
Portofino, I want you back in my arms
Every time I close my eyes I'm holding you in the dark
In Portofino where you broke my heart
In Portofino where you broke my heart.

  • superbe voix,je dedies cette chanson a philippe clabaul

  • his manager Gordon Mills is the one who suggested Gerry to change his name to Engelbert Humperdinck who was a German writer for Hasel and Gretel.....died in 1912......that huge name launched his career.....and in my opinion he has the male voice of the century...Even under his other name you could hear his voice...the most romantic singer ever....LOL.

  • simply fantastic,simply engelbert...

  • who wrote this song

  • Nice song.. when I heard this song, I felt I was in Portofino too..

  • Engelbert is the best singer from all and he has the wonderfullst voice I´ve ever heard. Respect Mr. Dorsey. UNVORGETTABLE!

  • Great Romantic....

  • the greatest song that Engelbert has ever sung!!!!

  • This video is not from 1986 - it's from sometime in the mid-90's; post-porn 'stache era thank God.

  • @wrobert445 Yeah it is, but if he used his real name, we'd forget about him. I'm baffled how he came up with this stage name.
