Evening at Blue Island, a great way to end the Month. Got some different angles due to the sun being to the West. Caught a triple meet right when I got there too.

3:59PM-
It didn't take long for this manifest to come on the IHB with EMD power up front.
CSXT SD70MAC #4573
CSXT ES44DC #5416

4:03PM-
An Eastbound doublestack passes behind the manifest. on the Barr Subdivision.
CSXT C40-8W #7636
CSXT ES44DC #5408

4:03PM-
Just seconds after the doublestack power goes by, this IHB transfer appears from behind the bridge, tagging along with the manifest.
IHB GP40-2 #4016

4:49PM-
An Eastbound Doublestack with a neat leader emerges around the corner and advances through the junction.
CSXT AC6000CW #5005
CSXT C40-8W #7767

5:00PM-
A Westbound CSX Z-Train on the IHB trundles over the CN diamonds.
CSXT C40-8W #7729
CSXT C40-8 #7511

5:35PM-
An Eastbound BNSF empty coal train comes around with two GEVOs.
BNSF ES44AC #6189
BNSF ES44AC #6412

5:38PM-
As the coal train passes in the background, IHB SW1500 #1523 and Slug #479 pass by after dropping off a cut of cars. At the bridge, the duo reverses to change tracks past the tower.

5:53PM-
A unit ethanol train from CP trackage in Franklin Park, IL.
CP ES44AC #8845
CP AC4400CW #9622

6:00PM-
BNSF power leads a vehicle train North past the tower.
BNSF ES44DC #7408

6:12PM-
IHB GP40-2 #4017 leads a transfer to Clearing.

6:29PM-
The 4th IHB train of the evening shows up and really puts on a show in the Junction. These two old EMDs pull a mix of intermodal and general merchandise equipment South.
IHB GP40-2 #4015
IHB SD20 #2920

6:40PM-
The BICB Long West Train Departs Blue Island with a lone GEVO up front.
IAIS ES44AC #502

7:47PM-
Over an hour of no trains is finally broken by a CSX manifest led by one unit.
CSXT AC4400CW #209

8:03PM-
What is this like the 8th Warbonnet I've seen today? And of all the places to see the last one. I'm guessing this will turn into the M-IHBGAL once it reaches BNSF trackage.
BNSF C44-9W #661 (Ex. ATSF)
BNSF ES44DC #7451

8:07PM-
Tagging right along behind the manifest is this vehicle train, led by two Dash-9s.
BNSF C44-9W #4134
BNSF C44-9W #4604

8:22PM-
At the edge of the daylight, a CSX Container Intermodal switches over to the IHB with an EMD classic trailing.
CSXT AC4400CW #226
CSXT SD50-2 #8570

  • i love these videos

  • I just looked at this area on Google Earth. What a confusing mass of tracks!

  • CSX doesn't run "Z-Trains" like BNSF... the intermodals are Q100's. A CSX Z-Train is a foreign road train running on CSX tracks... for example, NS B32 running on CSX is Z329...

  • anybody know where that bnsf coal train is headed and where it started? is that the same train from mt. olive michigan that came from the csx line?

  • 2nd train:

That's actually CSXT 7836 in the lead, not 7636.

  • cuantas locomotoras

    three trains Unvelibed!!!
