he was writing the Pale King at this time so all the references to Economics makes since in context

Today, is the first time I am dealing with David Foster Wallace. I have seen the Charlie Rose interview, read the "This is water" essay and now this video. Right now, there is no other person in history that I would like more to have a conversation with than him. I am really feeling connected to this guy.

He says that advertising functions on some level by appealing to a cultural sense of depression/boredom and filling that gap with products. Is there scope for a meta-analysis of advertising as systematically excluding goods/services that can actually produce happiness in order to maintain fertile ground for advertising?

hers is one smart turkey

Brilliant when he turns the question back to her wanting to really know what she thinks and listens.

The tiny stutter just makes him sweeter.
These videos makes me very sad that I'll never meet him.
