I believe George Smith was Rod Piazza's mentor and teacher. I saw George and Rod together at the first S.F Blues Festival I attended in around 1980 @ Kezar Pavillion. An incredible harp player and the best chromatic player I ever heard. Rod has always paid tribute to him over the years.
