Edited by Renato Sommexe, in this video recorded at frankfurt 1986 we have the chance to see Alan, Gary Husband on drums, Jimmy Johnson on Bass and the amazing extraordinary Key akagi on keys at the time using the best keyboards available, yamaha CP80 for pianos and Yamaha DX7 for synth sounds, sometimes stealing the scene showing a tremendous intimacy with alan's complicated compositions, some of them not featuring keyboads in the original recording, in others replacing the also magnificent Alan Pasqua a long term partner in alan's career. Key akagi also can be seen here at youtube on Miles Davis tour in a Kitaro Look due to the long hair. Also alike is his presence in one of Dimeola's 80's shows and you can hear his improvisations along with tavaglione's wind controller synth solos in gambale's alive album which I long to see one day in video also, if someone has it please get in touch, let's share.

  • Well when Steve Vai HIMSELF says that listening to Allan puts him into a "blissful state of surrender," I think that about sums it up. Please remember, there's more to life than pentatonic licks and whammy bar tricks.....Go study some harmony, man.....

  • You'd be surprised.....go locate the April 2008 issue of Guitar Player magazine, where players such as VAI, JOE SATRIANI, EDDIE VAN HALEN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and ADRIAN BELEW all shower Holdsworth with praise and admiration.

Calling someone's comments "gay" doesn't change the fact that you're an ignorant noob. Get your head out of your ass and learn something about MUSIC, not pentatonic boxes.

  • Interesting sound he was getting there in the 80's

  • Certainement un artiste mais son jeu metallique, coupant, manque d'harmonie etne laisse passer aucune émotion !

  • Who accidentally hit the dislike button?

  • @thechangee

There are many types of guitarist. There's the melodic geniuses - such as Latimer, Hackett, Gilmour, Rothery. There's the technical geniuses - such as Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Batio. There's the metal/hard rock geniuses - like Blackmore, Iommi, Slash. Then there's the fusion geniuses - Santana, Di Meola and Holdsworth. They're all great at what they do but they're different. Which you like best is just personal preference. (And I've missed out some fantastic players, I know!)

  • The best there ever was/will be

  • Steve Vai is the guy featured in the Zappa video "Frank spanks Stevie" this is not to say that Vai is not excellent but there is a very long list of excellent and real musicans don't really consider their art a competition.

  • who's steve vai?

  • Holdsworth has been so fucking good for so long it's a crime he isn't on US Billboards

  • OMFG... SPEECHLESS

  • @NOTEWORKER007 I didn't talk any "shit" about Steve Vai...I was QUOTING HIM. Go ahead and look up the April 2008 issue of Guitar Player magazine. Vai says that listening to Holdsworth puts him in a "blissful state of surrender".

By the way, it's "blasphemy", not Blasfemy.
