NORAC rules require a train passing a stopped train to sound the horn.

Why so slow?
-
There is actually a high and low setting on the horn. This is a low bast.
-
it does

i think an acela passing by at full speed is louder than the horn of an amtrak
-
It is a Hybrid K5LA and he didn't blow it all the way so it sounded like a K3L

the acela is fun to ride on but if you ever get a chance to go to france, ride the TGV from Paris to Geneva. Amazing route. train reaches 300kph (186mph)

Did the acela have to slow down for the station?

The train had to slow down because south of the station there is a S-Curve section of track that the train has to go through. That's why the train slowed down.

I love it too when Amtrak toots their horns, only sometimes in my videos the camera jerks because of the element of surprise the engineers give me when they toot them. Most are really friendly to railfans.

Every now and then the same thing happens to me when they blow their horns.
