Description of Clean Water for Haiti's work to empower locals to build filters that will last for up to 20 or more years and provide clean water for up to 4 households.
Been to Haiti 5 times before the quake, as careful as I was, I got sick every time from food \ water. Most buildings had a cement basement that was built to be filled with water. Tanker trucks ran all day selling truck loads of contaminated water. A portable filter would be great now after the quake, just hope the people use them.
I had worms in my stomach as a toddler in Cambodia,it shows as a pot belly in a black and white photo.
Must have given me meds before going back to the United States of America. Mexicans eat a certain plant in the soups which build immunity to "bad" water.
this is great. we're raising for money for wells in rwanda. i love that something so simple as providing fresh water can save so many lives. there is a lot of work to do, but if people would join together, this is an issue we can really make a lot of head way with and make a difference in the world!
So...clean water is not something everyone deserves? Would you say that waterborne disease is an appropriate birth control? I hope I am misinterpreting your point.
Only problem is the level of children being born hasn't declined. With better water supplies the mortality rate is reduced but the population reaching reproductive age has increased. Haiti is an island that has to import the majority of the food as it is.

Can't imagine living where you have to drink water like that. It is great the people are working so hard to bring pure water to those that need it.
These filters are really cool.

It is a beautiful concept in the sense that it gets to the root of the problem. Whoever designed that filter is genious...keep it up.
