I am a sponsor myself. The reason why I chose to donate to Children International over many other organizations is because I know specificially where the money is going, how it is being used, and who it is being used for. Also, Children International doesn't just deliver food and medicine to poor people. They help children to better themselves, improve their lives, and make permanent changes. The monthly donations allow children to have consistent help & support, and have better lives overall.

That's exactly why I've chosen C.I. Unfortunately, a lot of aid simply just ends up in the wrong hands.

Case in point: I know of one major international charity which donated food and clothing to orphans in a developing country, only to have the food and clothing wind up being sold as consumer goods.

Basically, government officials inflated the numbers of orphans and simply sold the food and clothing which had been allotted for them for profit. And nothing was ever done about it.
