Nationally recognized for its expertise in total joint replacement and specialized orthopedic care, the Center for Hip & Knee Surgery at St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville has helped Hoosiers heal for more than 20 years.

While hips, knees and shoulders may be our focus, our staff is truly dedicated to leading you back to the activities you love best. An afternoon on the golf course, a walk through the park, a slow dance with that special someone: that's our specialty.

Founded in 1986 by Dr. Merrill A. Ritter, the Center for Hip & Knee Surgery soon became one of the first orthopedic centers of excellence in the country. Today, with more than 25,000 total joint replacements performed and its substantial and ongoing body of research, the Center has become one of the leading joint replacement centers in the nation.

For the fourth year in a row, the Center for Hip & Knee Surgery is #1 in Indiana for joint replacement surgery, according to HealthGrades, the nation's leading health care ratings company. The Center is also the recipient of the 2010 HealthGrades Joint Excellence Award for ranking among the top 5 percent in the nation for joint surgery. It marks the eighth year in a row the hospital has been five-star rated for joint surgery.

Located just a few minutes south of Indianapolis at St. Francis Hospital-Mooresville, the Center for Hip & Knee Surgery is a model for other orthopedic centers throughout the United States and worldwide. Each year, other orthopedic surgeons visit the Center to study our highly successful surgical procedures.

For more than two decades, the Center has improved patients' lives through cutting-edge surgical techniques, nationally recognized research and dedication to providing care based on each person's physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
