@corgigurl One of the exec's of the american version said that the killer probably won't be the same. And in the danish version, that's not how it went down.
@MrsPisaroni I saw the Danske version. Exellent. While AMC misleads SOMETIMES the Americans can get it right but yes, British and Danish are better at it as are Germans. Love subtitled movies!!! We love it because our good buddy Billy Campbell is in this.
This is the only way to get this to a north american audience - No one is going to watch a whole series with subtiles, (like I mentioned - a good art film maybe) I think it looks awesome. From what I have heard it was a cult classic, glad we are going to gert itr here. The Danish make great TV.
@corgigurl Why post a potential spoiler without saying SPOILER ALERT? It is just common courtesy if you want any respect at all. Also I totally disagree with you on your critical view - Why not put a good story in a context that can speak to an audience from a different culture? All stories are just amalgams of common archetypes and if they are going to have a chance in a culture with a different language - then it only makes sense to do a remake - I can see maybe watching a subtitled movie
If you're going to post spoilers, corgigurl, at least have the good manners and consideration for others to LABEL them clearly. Many UK viewers will not have seen the last episodes as of this date.
You are so right. I really enjoyed the Danish 20 part series. I actually read the subtitles. Just in case anyone cares.......Rosie's parents good friend and employee killed Rosie. Oh, by the way, he also kills Sarah Linden's (the detective's) partner (Stephen Holder) toward the end. Have a nice day ;-) (By the way, this is a total rip-off of a Danish Crime thriller with the same name.) AMC calls it original and claims it turns all shows like this on their head. My a**
