KELOWNA FIRE STORM July 18 2009

In 2003 people on the Westside watched as 10s of thousands of Kelowna residents were forced to flee what was referred to as the Kelowna Firestorm. Hundreds of homes were destroyed as the fire raged on day after day in the late summer heat.
July 18, 2009 it was Glenrosa, West Kelowna that faced of with the ravages of a fire storm. All ready the fire has consumed more than 400 hectare and continues to grow, being fanned by up 40 kilometer wind gusts. And now there are reports of multiple fires erupting.

I remember this fire i lived across the lake from it. I remember the smoke being so thick that it would bring tearsto your eyes the second you stepped outside. However not as bad as 2003. Which i was 6 when it happened and 6 years later thi happens.

We were very lucky because this fire could have been a hell of a lot worse. If the wind had have changed direction, then Glenrosa would have been a thing of the past.
