The captions are f'ing hilarious!
Thanks for posting.

Is there such a thing as a phono-double-bass, by any chance?
-
This is truly hysterical. Q: What's the difference between a phonofiddle and a cat being strangled? A: Vibrato.

The rumors were right. This thing has a terrible tone.
Thanks for posting this piece played on a fascinating early studio instrument. A little Scots-Klezmer is a wonderful thing.

Great to hear a Yiddish version of this!

This is brilliant :D I bet you could make some amazing sounds with this! Would be create for creating really eerie timbres and textures, sound design wise! Bit of reverb and delay, then you're laughing!

@maiseyferret I like your suggestions but, believe me, with that noise in your ear it is never a laughing matter!

For some reason which escapes me, I doubt it. I think you are more likely to hear it played in Tipperary than in Tel Aviv.

wow
i just discovered this instrument
it's so cool
does it really need the horn?
i looks somewhat impractical when it sounds like a violin
but it seems really cool and i liked that song a lot

I'm glad you like it. A phonofiddle can sound quite good without the horn but the horn gives it a nerve-stripping and mind-numbing quality which only a select few can enjoy. Welcome to the club!

I wear ear plugs when I'm performing as I find the sound quite nerve-stripping.
