Just before the August 4th game of the Braves at San Francisco, Pete Van Wieren had these words to say about his broadcast partner, Skip Caray, who had died just the day before. I put some pics and music to it.

  • Still haven't gotten over the loss of Skip completely. Those of us who grew up listening to he and Pete on TBS and WSB no doubt understand. We Braves fans were treated to the best of the best for decades, and took it for granted. We're gonna miss ya, Skippy!

  • I still get excited when I hear his call of the Cabrera hit/Bream slide.

    Sorry, Pirates fans.

  • Skip was such a complainer and a sourpuss. Saw him in the press box during an actual broadcast reading a novel.Although his best call was the famous "GUNS OF NAVARONE" game ending double play off the bat of Kevin Mitchell.Don Sutton always gave you a great description of the TBS movie during a

    Braves Games.

  • Ernie, Pete and Skip were the best broadcasting team in sports history, and no one is even close. When the franchise was at its worst in the seventies and eighties, we were still treated to these amazing personalities every night on TV and radio. They were warm and funny, they were pros, they called a great game, and they were utterly lovable. I spent countless pleasant hours laughing and going through every emotion with these guys and they were family to me. How lucky we were.

  • Skip and Pete are both legends.

  • Skip was joined tonight by his long-time broadcast partner Ernie Johnson, Sr. Ernie passed away Friday night, August 12, 2011. These two will be missed in the hearts of all Braves fans.

  • If he doesn't get in the Hall of Fame, it's a damn shame.

  • @ckrailvideo back in the day when the braves were losing, and skip would start talking about the bar he had gone to the night before. i miss him so much. he made the games fun.
