July 4, 1986 A live performance by the Boston Pops conducted by John Williams, this clip is a masterpiece of visual patriotism from Liberty State Park. The opening concert begins with Liberty Fanfare then The Star-Spangled Banner (Americas National Anthem). Commentary from ABCs Peter Jennings and Barbara Waters follows.

  • what fun. i played the bass in this concert and wrote about it in "real men don't rehearse." -- specifically, the natl anthem was taped and we synced to it because the jets were too loud to hear anything, including ourselves!
