Dusty came to Jim Crockett Promotions in June 1984. Several wrestlers who were in Florida followed him to Charlotte. Sadly, Championship Wrestling from Florida began to die a slow death. The plug was pulled in 1987. Then JCP went under a year later. Go figure. Dusty played a part, but the big thing, IMO, was Magnum, T.A.'s injury. He was scheduled to win the belt from Flair at Starrcade 86. They were to start the storyline for the switch at the first taping after the accident.

I wonder how Slaughter thinks of that comment today about Jay Youngblood.

Sadly, Jay was not quite able to overcome his personal demons. I know there is a book on tag team wrestling where the surviving 3 commented on the Greensboro match. They thought their was a bad wreck on I-85, but it was jammed with fans thinking that this could be the last time they saw Steambaot & Youngblood together. Several fans were turned away because the Greensboro Coliseum was sold out. This is where the seed was planted in Jim Crockett for StarrCade.
