Zazen is not at all like TM (Transcendental Meditation). TM is self-help. in Zazen there is no goal of transcendence because there is no-self.
"No ill-being, no cause of ill-being, no end of ill-being, and no path; no understanding, no attainment."
(I hate to use cliche Zen phrases but)
Show me this mind that you want to quiet. This mind that concentrates on the breath.
