Spirit - Visual Statement's original modern ballet first performed to local audiences as part of Doors Open Day and Festival Day in 2004 and also was performed at the Royal Concert Hall as part of The Fair Trade Experience in 2005. Spirit was a completely original modern ballet piece produced, directed and choreographed by Danny Dobbie. It was inspired by the Testimony of Chief Seattle, published in 1887 which speaks "Transformation Through Change" .

"Nearly 150 years ago Chief Seattle, a respected and peaceful leader of one of the Northwest Indian Nations , delivered a compelling message to the government in Washington who wanted to buy his people's land. He believed that all life on earth, and the earth itself, is sacred, and that man's heedless abuse of native will lead to its destruction. Essentially it was a powerful plea for conservation."

The Spirit of the Chief Seattle's message lives on in the ballet when it was shown to audiences across the country using dance and music as the medium.
