Double Dragon - Genesis (Mega Drive)

This is Double Dragon for the Sega Genesis (aka Mega Drive), completed in 7:30 (from start of first level to the death of Willy). It's not really a speedrun, but shows that the game can be completed very quickly.

This vid illustrates various flaws and bugs in the Genesis conversion, notably the 'jump next to door-emerging baddies to kill them' glitch (see around 50 secs in) and the near-invincible whip.

This version played a lot smoother than the arcade. But felt like it was overclocked. But what gives with some of the characters vanishing ?

A question... what video/sound settings and program did you use to record this? I am having a problem compressing the rest of my DD videos (which is why I haven't posted them) properly...

Yes, I did re-compress the video afterwards (can't remember which version of Gens). I used a program called 'mencoder' on Mac OS X, which may also be available for Windows (part of MPlayer). The command was like this:

mencoder gens_output.avi -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 -o for_youtube.avi
