Not to be a dick, but they really DO matter. Novice controls arent like a real planes controls and totally take away a good portion of the feeling... You cant roll or anything which makes dogfighting incredibly lame. I suggest you go back and give the other set up a try ;)

Well the controls dont really matter, thats like saying your bad becuase you play a diffrent difficulty, and yet its still the standard for this game, im sorry that i dont like it enough to actully get good enough to use those controls, but thats too bad.

In this case, they are two entirely diffrent. One is atleast modern while the other historic. I cant be the judge.

Well, I just tried the demo of ace combat. Terrible how they have mistaken the correct proportions for the plane... if you fly down near buildings it looks like a fucking playhmobil set, plus the horrible graphics you mentioned. Well....

Ill tell you one this though mrs. belva. Wings of prey is a much better WW2 game. Its hard as hell, but its nice with a flight stick and alot of free time.
