An MD500 Is the standard model type. The 500E 500D and so on are different types of that model which (forgive me if I am off on this) varies from engine types and/or accessories. Some models will have different advantages and disadvantages as others. If you want a real look into these differences I'd say look on to a McDonald Douglas website and call for info on what would suit your best interest
