When I feel so down, like a worn out shoe
Gotta grease my wheels, turn around and crawl to you
And you turn me on, like you did before
But it won't be long you'll be running through the door

Lovin' you is hard enough, lovin' you is strange
Burnin' up my days and nights, lock me up in chains
Then you cast your spell on me, I hear rock'n'roll
Keeps my motor runnin' cool, rollin' down the road

I'm a cadillac, I'm just holding back
All the speed inside just to let me ride you through
You're a thunderbird cruisin' round my heart
But don't push your luck, I don't always play my part

Lovin' you is hard enough, lovin' you is strange
Burnin' up my days and nights, lock me up in chains
Then you cast your spell on me, I hear rock'n'roll
Keeps my motor runnin' cool, rollin' down the road

You know I'm not for sale, I'm just here for fun
Call me up sometime, try and catch me on the run...

  • Dude...re post this!!! You've only got half the song here. You need the whole tune. The second half is a killer instrumental...El Camino Dolo Roso. That's why the title is "I'm A Cadillac/El Camino Dolo Roso". Your sound quality here is great and I'd love to hear the entire song. I'm just saying.

  • great !!!!!

  • Some Happy Days listening to this.

  • LA in the late 60's and 70' we had two so-called underground radio stations. Commercials were few. The DJ's were music maniacs. No payola here. They would play the entire album. That's were I first heard Janis Joplin, Almann Bros. Band at Fillmore East, Jimmy Hendrix, et al. I don't think there's a need for this kind of radio today because there's not any great music to be heard. Today's music is repetitious and boring. Back in the day, every song on an album was good.

  • It just kills me how a song like this was not on regular rotation on radio at the time. As stupid as not being able to hear Rockaway Beach pounding out on a tinny AM radio in the old Dodge on a hot summer day.

  • yep the missing el camino is a stutter step into a memory void

  • @daddyagogo duh...it was Mott's best year.

  • I enjoyed hearing this song again, thanks for posting. Didn't even mind the edit. I always agreed the 2nd half insrumental didn't fit the song. But I can also understand someone wanting to hear it all. I guess Mick was the glue for this band because they kind of floundered after this great release and his departure.

  • This song takes me way back! Great tune!

  • WHOAAAAA !!!! excellent...FINALLY my favorite MTH tune of all time makes it in youtube. THANKS for posting !!!

  • My fav Mott song except for (all the young dudes) but always thought the second half never really fit the song? IMO
