Cass rushes back to the car, which has smoke pouring out of the interior, opens the driver's side door, and pulls out the unconscious Frankie. When she comes to, she asks him why they're on the ground. He tells her there was an explosion in her car and she passed out, she fainted. Frankie retorts that she has never fainted in her life, then asks Cass why he's whispering. When he tells her he's not whispering, she starts to cry and panic because she can't hear him clearly. Cass assures her it will pass and asks her to please try to tell him what happened. Frankie tells Cass that someone threw a cherry bomb in her car, but she didn't see who it was. She still can't hear Cass, but when he yells to make himself heard, she cries harder and tells him not to yell at her. Cass instantly apologizes and asks Frankie if she's hurt. She tells him she hit her head on the steering wheel. Then she wonders if you can still wear earrings when you're wearing a hearing aid. Cass wants to take Frankie to the hospital, but she refuses to go because she hates hospitals, insisting that Sharlene will fix her right up. Cass tells Frankie if she thinks she's going home alone, she can forget about it. Then Frankie realizes that she can't go to the farm because Sharlene and John asked her to lay low so they could be alone for the night. Cass says good, she can sleep on the nice, clean, white hospital linens...but he's interrupted when Frankie realizes her clothes are ruined and starts crying again. Then Frankie passes out again just as Cass suggests they sit down. Cass manages to catch her, then, after wondering aloud why these things always happen to him, awkwardly carries Frankie away while calling for a taxi.
