Here's Splash Hill Zone Act 1, done in the style of Sonic 2's Emerald Hill Zone.

Fun to make, and a pain to get the instruments working with VOPM. I had to make my own rips as the ones I had already were missing a crucial instrument, and the usual fun with getting timed LFO modulation working. Oh, and those few intro bars, trololololo~

Random Fun Fact/Discussion Point: To make Sonic 4 music sound more in-line with the classics, I transpose the pitch down by 5. So far, it's worked with every track. Mayhaps that's another reason why the music sounds so bad on the actual game?

Yeah, I might do more of these, I might not. Depends on my mood. :U

  • @hapisan I know this isn't the place, but would it be considered cheating if I played SAGE 2010 on an emulator for the WII, copied the SRAM to the computer, ran the emulator made for SAGE 2010, and uploaded my records?

  • @ScottQB4 You'll find you won't be able to. I specifically made it so you couldn't upload offline scores/times/etc. to prevent people from uploading hacked scores. Sorry.

  • @hapisan So it has it's own SRAM? I wouldn't cheat.

P.S. There's no need to be sorry. We don't need hackers trollin' the boards & it's nice to talk to a real Sonic rom hacker like yourself.

  • @ScottQB4 oh, I know there are a majority that wouldn't, and quite frankly it's still possible to cheat if you know how. Afterall, it's all rom hacking, and if it can be done it can be undone to work out how, too, but I'd rather give the minority who do cheat a challenge to earn their cheating results first. :P Plus it cuts down the time policing the results boards.

  • I loved this. Where did you get the instruments from dude?

  • @KarlBerkon I used a VST called VOPM, and the actual YM2612 FM instruments from Emerald Hill Zone's music.

  • I thought it sounded a bit worng at first, but it's growing on me. :D

  • I Love the Remix. Great job on the begining with The Fake out with the Emerald Hill zone opening at the Begining of the mix.

  • MASTERPIECE

  • shit! , thats was soo good, sounds really like it would if it was a lost track in sonic 2 :D

  • @hapisan I've always had an interest in seeing what the maximum value is when it comes to games like Megamania or Keystone Kapers, either just to see it, or to see what happens, so I used a cheat (FFFE21:00FF, specifically) to give me a ton of rings when I noticed that the ring counter could hold 4 digits instead of 3. Could you tell me how you did it? If there's any way I can prove I'm not a noob, I got the big ring at the end of Sandopolis Act 1 using a spin dash & Hyper Sonic's double jump.
