As a working musician covering some of Sheryl’s material I have to say that this band with Doyle Bramhall II is by far the best I have ever heard her sound. I checked her concert out on the HGN Concert Series Miles From Memphis last night and was completely blown away. Sheryl looked prettier, happier, healthier and more in tune than I have ever seen her. It appears she has picked players to surround herself with that are blues and gospel influenced. What a refreshing change.

@fanatikbr I like the old version just fine. But this version has soul...including the James Brown stuff at the end. Nice that she changes-up the songs from time to time--THAT'S more interesting than the same thing yr after yr.

@electricguru Are you fucking kidding? This is her best band to date. Go to the Letteman site and watch more of this concert. This band is killin'. She's always had really good bands, but this one brings a new level of polish & groove to her material, in no small part do to the bass player. In the past, she & one of the gtr players covered the bass, which was serviceable. But this cat is a real bass player. I do agree that she's too thin. But a crack whore? Hardly.

She looks like an old crack whore now, she can't sing anything in that condition, and the rest of the band are a cheap imitation of a band that wants to be somebody, even at the cost of bringing down a once great player singer, and a great song. It all really sounded bad now. Very sad. You need to get away from those people, Sheryl.

i love sheryl crow. i have seen her perform this song four times live and this version just doesn't rock it. pick up your guitar girl and jam, you could always tell she loved performing this tune. doesn't seem the case here.
